During October, we spent the afternoon with Jo & Lorraine from Shannon’s Bridge. We learnt more about their initiative, some of the great work they are doing within the local community & also assisted in packing around 30 packs for those in palliative care. Shannon’s Bridge aims to assist people who are in palliative care, who wish to be comfortable in their last days by being at home surrounded by loved ones & also aim to increase death literacy amongst the general population. They do wonderful work upskilling people in being able to talk and interact with those in palliative care. The packs are a vital part of the care process, it includes important medical supplies, but also other general items like lip balm & tissues. Although at times confronting to hear some of the stories, it was great to see there are people in the community who want to make a difference and assist those in need. Sarah from CVI & Chelsey from NWF also spent an afternoon training with them to learn more about the initiative & how to assist those people in need.
